She starts dreaming for them when they are in her womb and keep dreaming about and for them even when they grow up and hurt or humiliate her.

Nargis (Mother India) had retired from acting in films after she had married Sunil Dutt, her co star in Mother India.

It was during the shooting of Mother India that Sunil Dutt had saved from a raging fire and Nargis out of love and gratitude had married Sunil Dutt.

And had given up her illustrious career in which she had worked with Raj kapoor in 18 films and with Dilip Kumar in seven films and with many other leading actors of the time ,including Devanand.

She had now settle down to be a homemaker for Sunil Dutt. They had their first child who was a boy and who they named Sanjay and who become baba at home. They had two other daughters, Namrata and Priya.

Sanjay showed sign of being a spoilt brat and his parents had to send him to boarding school.

It was while Sanjay was in boarding school that he started to taking drugs, the fact which was first known only by his mother who could not reveal it even to her husband. Sanjay's addiction kept growing even after he came back from the boarding school.

But Nargis being a mother still didn't tell anyone about her son's addiction and pursued her dream to see her only son as a star.

But later she told her husband about her dream to make Sanjay a star and her husband was very excited to launch his son in a film called Rocky.

The film was launched at the Mehboob studio in a way no other film was launched. Afterall the hero of the film was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Dutt!

Almost every man and woman who was anything in the world of films in Bombay and elsewhere attended the muhurat ceremony and Mr. And Mrs.

Dutt stood in one corner and received guests , but also cried all the time, cried tears of happiness. For Nargis, the mother, it was her dream come true.

But, fate had other designs for Nargis. A few months after Rocky was launched, she was diagnosed for pancreatic cancer and her loving husband rushed her to America to be treated at the Sloan Kettring Cancer Hospital , considered the best in the world.

She had spent the next six months in hospital and Mr. Dutt gave away all his responsibilities in Bombay only to be with his wife in hospital.

It was while she was in hospital that she first told Mr. Dutt about Sanjay's addiction to drugs, but at that time Mr. Dutt was more involved in saving the life of his wife.

The couple kept track of all that was happening in Bombay and especially about Rocky and Sanjay.

The shooting of the film continued even without Mr. Dutt around and was completed. Nargis was asked to go home from hospital because the doctors saw no hope for her.

She was very happy to have the opportunity of celebrating Diwali with her family but she was more interested in her son's films.

It was just two weeks to go before the film to be released at the Ganga cinema in Bombay and Nargis prayed and kept praying to every God to keep her alive atleast till the release of her son's film.

But , all the Gods were deaf to her prayers and Mrs. Nargis Dutt died on May 3 just 10 days before the release of Rocky.

And on the day of the release, Mr. Dutt kept a seat vacant at the Ganga , which was his way of showing how much he , Sanjay and tha family loved and cared for the family.

Mr. Dutt and Sanjay had visited her grave on the morning of the release and it was perhaps the prayers of Nargis that made a not so well made film Rocky a very big hit and launched a stormy career of one of the most controversial stars of India.

Thank God, the mother was not around to se how her son's addiction had grown dangerous and how he was involved in the Bomb blast case and how his father fought several battles to keep him alive and safe.
