Raj Kapoor had formed a formidable team of Shankar and Jaikshan and Shailendra and Hasrat Jaipuri to take charge of the music of his films made under his banner RK Films and this team worked musical wonders for RKfor more than four decades - Ali Peter John

But the bad times started just before "Mera Naam Joker' . Shailendra died , Jaikshan died , Raj Kapoor died and even Shankar died .

The only pillar left was Hasrat Jaipuri and he was literally left stranded and looked for ways to give expressions to the millions of feelings he had in him and he couldn't find music directors who could understand him or his ways of working .

He was eager to work with the new music directors like his nephew Anu Malik , but he was more keen to work with the new sensation in the world of Hindi film music , Bappi Lahiri .

He made his desire ( hasrat ) known to Bappi and Bappi who always respected the veterans not only listened to some of the lyrics of Hasrat , but even gave him the opportunity to write a song for a film called " Kundan' staring Dharmendra and Jaya Prada . The song , a duet was sung by Sadhana Sargam and Mohamad Aziz.

Hasrat also wrote the lyrics for a video song tuned by Bappi for "Kundan'" and the first line of the song was ' ,"Meri Tujh Se Shikaayat Hai ," sung by Sadhana Sargam . It was perhaps the last two songs written by Hasrat in 1993 and he died in September 1999 .

Incidentally , Bappi's father Aperesh Lahiri had sung his only Hindi song which was writtend by Hasrat for a film called "Badshah " starrng Pradip Kumar and released in 1954 . Incidentally , Hasrat's daughter , Kishwar is married to a handsome business man called Badshah .

Bappi has played a vital role in the careers of several important poets and lyricists like Kaifi Azmi , S H Behari , Naqsh Layalpuri , Faruq Qiaiser , Maya Govind , Amit Khanna , Shaily Shailendra , Yogesh , Anjaan and Indivar .
