Birthday K. C. Bokadia: This is how my directorial career began

Birthday K. C. Bokadia : 'You are wrong to say that after the film 'Aaj Ka Arjun', none of my films were successful as a director. The films 'Tyagi', 'Police Mujrim' and 'Kundan' were successful at the box office. The proof of this is that my film Distributors buy my film easily only after the auspicious time.

How I met Bokadia on the occasion of a film. Here are his questions and answers

The film 'Pyaar Jhukta Nahi' was successful as a producer and 1st hit of the day, Arjun as a director! After this, many of your films came as producer and director but those films were not successful. What do you have to say about this?

'You are wrong to say that after the film 'Aaj Ka Arjun', none of my films were successful as a director. The films 'Tyagi', 'Police Mujrim' and 'Kundan' were successful at the box office. The proof of this is that my films it is only after the auspicious time that the distributors buy my films easily, that is why I keep making films one after the other as a producer and director.

'But you did not make any such memorable film which can be praised as your direction. What would you like to say about this?'

Look, even before me, directors came and went in the film industry. Apart from a select few, did anyone make a memorable film? No, where are directors like Raj Saheb, Guru Dutt, and V Shantaram now? At that time, artists, directors, musicians, and writers used to consider their work as worship. But today every man has become a machine. If, by luck, a film becomes memorable amidst such a machine race, then it is a different matter. Well, I have a wish that I must give a memorable film to the people in my life.

But in the films released under your banner, it never feels like you have worked hard on your film. What would you like to say about this?

'Many of my films were hits at the box office, which is proof that I have worked hard on my films. I have always considered the script as my son. And a father never behaves dishonestly with his son. That's all I have to say on this question.

You started direction with the film 'Aaj Ka Arjun' with superstar 'Amitabh 'Bachchan'. How did Amitabh ji accept to work with a new director like you? What are your thoughts about this?

'It happened a long time ago, I met Amitabh ji during a party. During the meeting, when I asked him to work on my film, he said that you send the script, and only after that I will be able to tell whether I was working with you or not. After hearing this, I told him that only when you agreed to work with me, I will start working on the script. I don't want you to spoil all my hard work. If you say yes then I will start working on the script. Amitabh ji (after thinking for a moment) said yes. And this is how my directorial career started with Super Star. The film 'Aaj Ka Arjun' was such a big hit at that time. In those days, many of Amitabh's films were flopping at the box office, and this is how my directorial career started.

You are a producer, director, and writer as well, which of these three jobs do you like best?

I just like directing. There is so much joy in directing that I have no words for that moment.

You are a producer, director, writer, and distributor. In such a situation, why do you not insist on changing the social system? What are your views on this?

See, we have to make films according to time, whenever the producer or director tried to do something different, it ended up being a failure at the box office. Film 1942 A Love Story. There are many other films like 'Lamhe' which were praised but those films did not get business. This is why we like to make films according to time! Today in films, by making only robbery, rape, and mutual enmity the focal point and by making the hero a villain, the victory of evil over good is being portrayed as praiseworthy. At the same time, they are showing the victory of good over evil today. Because this is the demand of the audience, that is why we make such films keeping them in mind.
