Daboo Malik was born on January 21, 1963, in Bombay. He is the second son of music director Sardar Malik and Bilqees Begum. His mother was the sister of renowned lyricist Hasrat Jaipuri. Daboo Malik completed his Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) from Narsee Monjee College in Mumbai. Following his studies, he continued his family's legacy by entering the field of art. During this time, he pursued various creative pursuits, including singing, acting, and collaborating on music direction with his brother, Anu Malik.
Initially, Daboo Malik wasn't particularly interested in singing or composing music, but instead aspired to become an actor. In 1988, he played the small role of Devavrata in the popular Doordarshan serial "Mahabharata," directed by B.R. Chopra. Musician (2000–present)
However, in the 2000s, Daboo Malik decided to leave acting and fully pursue music. In an interview, he stated that he was unknowingly pursuing his latent talent for composing music and wasted time on acting.
His first solo music album, "Yeh Zindagi Ka Safar,"was released in 2001.Then, in 2002, he composed the superhit song"Thoda Sa Pyaar Hua Hai" for the film "Maine Dil Tujhko Diya." That same year, he also composed music for films like "Tumko Na Bhool Paayenge" and "Hum Tumhare Hain Sanam." Later, his music was heard in films like "I Proud to Be an Indian" (2004) and "Kisan" (2009).
Daboo Malik credits Salim Khan for inspiring him to become a musician. He says that a meeting with Salim Khan changed the course of his life. During that meeting, he sang in front of him for the first time, and Salim Khan told him that he was a born musician. This incident marked the beginning of his musical journey.
In 2014, Daboo Malik composed the music for, and also wrote the screenplay of, the musical thriller film"W."The film was directed by Tarun Madan.
