Household Name as Sita: Rejecting a Big Film for Authenticity

Actress Deepika Chikhalia, known for her role as Sita in Ramanand Sagar's 'Ramayana', is celebrating her 59th birthday

Deepika had a passion for acting since childhood and participated in drama programs during her school days

She started her acting career as a child artist in a Bengali film but gained popularity through Rajshree Production's 'Paying Guest' serial

Deepika also worked in Ramanand Sagar's serial Vikram Betal and appeared in films like 'Bhagwan Dada', 'Cheekh', 'Khudai', and 'Raat Ke Andar'

In 2018, she played a small role as Yami Gautam's mother in the film 'Bala'

Deepika rejected a big offer to work in a Hollywood film because she wanted to portray the role of Sita only and not expose herself

She also tried her hand at politics and won the Lok Sabha elections from the Vadodara seat in Gujarat in 1991 as a BJP candidate
