Madhavan got his first chance in the film industry in the Kannada film Shanti Shanti Shanti. After this, he played the lead role in the 2001 Bollywood film Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein. His character Maddie became very popular in this. After this, he never looked back. Madhavan was born on June 1, 1970 in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand. R Madhavan's full name is Madhavan Balaji Ranganathan. He has graduated in Electronics. He has represented India in Canada as a cultural ambassador. Being a professional public speaker, Madhavan represented India at the Young Businessmen Conference in Tokyo, Japan in 1992.

Madhavan always wanted to join the army, but he gave up this desire due to his parents' insistence. After completing his electronics degree, he taught tech communication and public speaking in workshops organized across the country. 

Not only this, he was awarded the Best NCC Cadet of Maharashtra and got a chance to go to England for this. He was even trained with the Royal Army, Navy, and Air Force.
