Shantanu Maheshwari (born 7 March 1991) is an Indian actor, dancer, and choreographer. He gained recognition for his role as Swayam Shekhawat in the popular youth TV show Dil Dosti Dance. His excellent dancing skills earned him immense popularity, and he also won the reality show Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi 8. He also represented India internationally with his dance crew Desi Hoppers and won the World of Dance Championship in Los Angeles. Shantanu made his Bollywood debut with Gangubai Kathiawadi (2022), directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. For this film, he received the IIFA Award – Star Debut of the Year (Male).

Shantanu Maheshwari's Early Life

Shantanu Maheshwari was born on March 7, 1991, in Kolkata to a Marwari family. He completed his early education at The Park English School and St. Joseph's College, Kolkata. He then moved to Mumbai for higher education and studied at HR College of Commerce and Economics. During his college years, he became a member of the Street Soul Dance Crew (SSDC). Shantanu specializes in dance styles such as Popping and Liquid Waving.

Shantanu began his acting career with Dil Dosti Dance, which aired on Channel V. His character and his chemistry with co-star Vrushika Mehta were well-received by audiences. The pair also received the ITA Award (Onscreen Couple of the Year 2014).

After this, he worked in many TV shows and reality programs, including Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya, Yeh Hai Aashiqui, and Girls On Top. In 2015, he also appeared in the show Bindass Naach, which showed the story of the formation of his dance crew Desi Hoppers and their victory in World of Dance 2015. Desi Hoppers became the first Indian dance crew in history to participate and win the World of Dance competition. Later, this team also got a chance to perform on the popular American show America's Got Talent.

In 2016, Shantanu participated in the ninth season of the dance reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa and performed brilliantly, becoming the second runner-up. Apart from this, he hosted TV shows like Love on the Run and also performed in many big stage shows and award functions.

His next film is Love in Vietnam, which was announced at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival and released in September 2025. The film is directed by Rahat Shah Kazmi and stars him alongside Avneet Kaur and Vietnamese actress Kha Ngan. The film is the first India-Vietnam film collaboration and is based on the famous novel Madonna in a Fur Coat.
