actress and now excellent lyricist Leena Chandavarkar -Ganguly-It was always a pleasure chatting with singer-actor-producer-director-composer-lyricist-performer Kishore-da who was very frank in his comments but sometimes he used to be quite quirky and crazy. When I had met him, witty humorist Kishore-da had told me that many times, he would get ‘sound peaceful sleep’ at night whenever saw scary horrifying movies. Not surprisingly he had dozens of horror-movies video-cassettes in his well-stocked home-library. Also Kishore-da had mentioned to me that he was a crazy ardent fan of Hollwood legendary star-actor Marlon Brando’s screen-performances ( ‘Godfather’ movie) ’ and it was his dream-wish to meet him. As is already known Kishore-da also told me that he was a great admirer of superstar singer K L Saigal, but that he preferred to develop his own different distinct style as playback-singer. Without any formal training in classical music, versatile genius Kishore-da sang such beautiful soulful timeless melodies like “Humey Tumse Pyar Kithna and ‘Chingari Koi Bhadke’. At the same time he could sing lively western music evergreen songs like ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’ and ‘Naach Meri Jaan Fataafat’ and ‘Ek Haseena Thhi’.

When I asked Kishore-da about his image, that money and timely payments were a priority for him, he smiled and clarified. “ In our industry, several film-makers do not settle dues-payments on time and sometimes they even become inaccessible, after the songs are recorded. Hence it’s necessary for me to maintain the payment-on-time-discipline. At the same time, I have performed for so many genuine fund-raising charity concerts without charging them. For close friends like Kaka-ji (Rajesh Khanna), I sang his movie songs ;Alag-Alag (1985) free-of-charge. That’s because I felt I owed my phenomenal success as a playback-singer, to his super-stardom in Aradhana when he sang on-screen my solo chartbuster song ‘Mere Sapnon Ki Rani’, “ clarified Kishore-da who I observed was a very loving caring husband to wife Leena-jee and caring father to Amit and Sumeet at home . As a family-friend, I have known Leena-jee, Amit Kumar and Sumeet for over past three decades,

In the presence of his Ganguly family members,. It was indeed was a befitting tribute to the great legend ‘Swar-Samrat' Kishore Kumar marking his 95th birthday on August 4th 2024 . Anil Bohra Entertainment presented the legend's star-singer son Sumeet Kumar as main part of their seventh concert ( on August 2nd) of their series of SKS Kishore Kumar Tribute, after their successful tours in US-Canada.. This was presented for the first time in Mumbai, in association with Voice and Vision.The USP of this beautifully designed playlist is the presentation of the songs, skillfully re-arranged by ace pianist and music-producer Gaurav Vaswani, with a team of some of the choicest handpicked expert musicians of Bollywood, The concert team has gathered huge accolades from around the globe, with the audiences highly appreciating their musical creativity of different conceptual tributes.

The team of live Singers that evening featured sensational Sumeet Kumar, the younger son of the legend Kishore-da, Priyanka Mitra from the core team, joined by Rajessh Iyer and Gul Saxena for the Mumbai city concert. It was a great surprise bonus delight for the appreciative audience when Amit Kumar sang his own evergreen hit songs Bade Achhe Lagte Hain and ‘Kehdo Ke Tum Ho Meri Warna . There was a huge surprise bonus for the audience when guest-of-honour celeb singer-actor Ruhan ( Mahendra) Kapoor came up on stage and heartily sang ‘Hume Tumse Pyar Kitnaa’ and got a thunderous ovation from the audience.

The terrific cherry on the musical cake was when Amit Kumar-da and Leena-jee came on stage and connected with the enthralled audience. Everyone seemed very impressed with Sumeet’s dhamaal-kamaal live showmanship ( like his great father Kishore-da) . Leena-ji and Amit-da said they were highly impressed with the presentation and blessed the team ---which made a huge impact. The audience gave a standing ovation to the team of musicians and singers which is considered quite a rare sight in Mumbai, marking their acceptance for something dynamic and different yet authentic in memorable musical content and creativity. .
