Tiger Shroff Birthday: Martial Arts Icon, Fitness Star or Box Office Test?

Jai Hemant "Tiger" Shroff (born March 2, 1990) is an Indian actor who primarily works in Hindi films. He is the son of actorJackie Shroff and Ayesha Dutt (former actress and film producer). He made his acting debut in the 2014 action-romance film Heropanti, for which he received the IIFA Award for Star Debut of the Year – Male.

He then starred in the commercially successful films Baaghi (2016), Baaghi 2 (2018), and War (2019). However, some of his later big-budget films, such as Heropanti 2, Ganapath, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, and Baaghi 4, failed to perform as well as expected at the box office, leading to a decline in his career.

In 2019, Tiger Shroff co-founded the mixed martial arts organization Matrix Fight Night (MFN). He was also included in Forbes India's Celebrity 100 list in 2018 and 2019. As a singer, he has also released several singles.

Early life and family background

Tiger Shroff was born on March 2, 1990. His father, Jackie Shroff, is a renowned Hindi cinema actor, and his mother, Ayesha Shroff (née Dutt), is a film producer and former actress. He has a younger sister, Krishna Shroff. He is of Gujarati and Turkmen descent on his paternal side, and Bengali and Belgian descent on his maternal side. His maternal grandfather was Air Vice Marshal Ranjan Dutt, who was awarded the Vir Chakra.

Tiger is a devout devotee of Lord Shiva. He fasts every Monday and on Mahashivratri. He completed his education at the American School of Bombay. His proficiency in martial arts has led him to train numerous actors for films. In 2014, he was awarded an honorary fifth-degree black belt in Taekwondo.

Film career

Debut and breakthrough (2014–2020)

In 2012, producer Sajid Nadiadwala launched her in Heropanti. The film was released in 2014 and was a commercial success. Her dancing, action, and stunts were well-received, while her acting received mixed reviews.

In 2016, he appeared in Baaghi , which was a box office hit. That same year, he starred in the superhero film A Flying Jatt.

In 2018, Baaghi 2 was a huge success. In 2019, he starred in Student of the Year 2 and War . War was among the highest-grossing films of that year.

In 2020, he appeared in Baaghi 3. The film's earnings were affected due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but it still performed well.

Career decline (2021–present)

Heropanti 2 , released in 2022, received negative reviews. Ganapath, released in 2023, was also a failure.

In 2024, he appeared in Bade Miyan Chote Miyan alongside Akshay Kumar, but the film underperformed at the box office. That same year, he also appeared in Singham Again.

Baaghi 4 was released in 2025, which received mixed reactions.

Other works and public image

Tiger Shroff became the brand ambassador and co-owner of the Bengaluru Tigers in 2017. He has been the brand ambassador for several major brands such as Pepsi, ASICS India, and Casio India.

In 2024, he launched the football club "Mumbay FC," which competes in the Mumbai Premier League. He also made his professional debut for the club.
