According to reports, the case has been registered at the Versova police station in Mumbai. The businessman who filed the complaint alleges that Vikram Bhatt and his daughter took a large sum of money from him by luring him with promises of huge profits in film projects and other business ventures, but failed to deliver the promised returns. When he did not receive his money back for a long time, he approached the police. The investigation has now been transferred to the Economic Offences Wing (EOW).

At the age of just 14, Vikram Bhatt began his career in 1982 with director Mukul Anand's debut film, Kanoon Kya Karega.
