Bodhi Is About Conversion To Christianity In Vidharba

Film- ‘Bodhi’ – The movie showcases small village of Vidarbha region. The story revolves around when Christian missionaries decide to sell the land which was given to the lower cast in exchange of their conversion to Christianity a couple of decades back.

  1. While speaking about the idea of the movie, Vaibhav said, I come from Vidarbha region and wanted to do Ph.D. . Afterwards I thought to express issues of Vidarbha farmers through a movie. I found myself the right guy as I also have farming background.
  2. Ketaki Narayan, while sharing her experience of the movie said, I did have to take much efforts. I was not judgmental about my character but considered that my character ‘Swati’ is just reacting to the situations that come her way. And I tried to understand her more.
  3. The film took 18 days to shoot, 6 months for pre production and 2 months for post production.

Film- ‘The Red Phallus’ – World Competition Section

In the gloomy and remote valley of Phobjikain, central Bhutan, Sangay, a 16 year old girl lives with her widower father, Ap Astara, a popular craftsman who is specialized in making phalluses. He wants to retire and pass on the mask to a younger talent.

Tshering Euden, Actor of the movie was present for the press conference.

  1. She said that, ‘The Red Phallus’ is the story of a girl who is not happy with her life. Her boyfriend is also dominating towards her.
  2.  Sharing about her character she said, there is a scene where my character murders her boyfriend which is a very strong scene. Before that she is the kind of girl who could not do anything and after that she is becomes free.
  3.  Speaking on her interaction with co-artist she said, My boyfriend in the movie was my brothers best friend in real which in a way is brother to me too, So there it became little difficult for me.
  4. The film was shot for 50 days. My experience with this movie is unforgettable as this is my 1st performance on screen.

Film- Rakkhosh – Indian Cinema

Rakkhosh is a first person account of Birsa Sekhri, who is diagnosed as a schizophrenic patient.

Barun Chanda, Atul Mahale and Sonamoni Jayant Cast, Prashen Kyawal, Executive Producer, Srivinay Salian, Director and Screenplay writer, Sayli Deshpande, Producer, S. Ramchandran, Publicist were present for the press conference.

  1. The movie is adaption of ‘Pateint – 302’- A story by Narayan Dharap.
  2. The screenplay writer and director of the movie Shrivinay Saliyan said, I decided not to read the story and thought to just take a brief and write it. And the script came out to be in alignment with the story.
  3. The Producer Sayali Deshpande said, I liked the script and I found something new in the story which was sufficient for me being a producer.
  4. The actor Sonamani Jayant said, the Director had their character sketch with them which they shared it with me. So it became little easy for me. I am a National School of Drama graduate, I tried to collect real life experiences, cooked all the real life ingredient and made a recipe for my character.

Film- ‘Chumbak’ – Marathi Competition Section

It is a coming of age story of a 15 year old table cleaning waiter-boy in Mumbai, Baalu who is on the crossroads of his aspirations and morals.

Sandeep Modi, Director, Sahil Jadhav and Sangram Desai, Actors of the movie were present for the press conference.

  1. Sandeep Modi studied in FTII, Pune said, Filmmaking does not come from studying others, studying others give us craft.
  2. He also said, we wrote the story 4 times without knowing the end. It is the characters who engineered us to choose the path.
  3. He thinks, reality is overrated but what is important is believability and cinema is how do we create believable options.
  4. For the cast we were looking for somebody who is a migrant and I found Sangram apt for the role.
