Bollywood ke acchhe din ka superhit daur waapis aa gaya— lagataar Flop daur sey mukti-azaadi !! -- By Chaitanya Padukone

Superhit films of the year 2023 include Mani Rathnam’s multi-lingual (Ponniyin Selvan-2) PS-2 ( Rs 300 crores plus) starring Aishwarya Rai. Then there was  Shahrukh Khan's super duper hit ‘Pathaan’  ( Rs 540 crores plus in India) opposite Deepika Padukone.  Shahrukh was returning after a five- year long gap to cinema theatres Then there was the romantic comedy  ‘Zara Hatke Zara Bachke ( already entered Rs 100 crores plus club) starring Vicky Kaushal and Sara Ali Khan which was a big musical hit. This was followed by showman superhit Karan Johar’s ‘Rocky Aur Rani ki Prem Kahani’ ( racing toward Rs 207 crores)  and superhit Akshay Kumar- Pankaj Tripathi starrer OMG ( Oh My God) expected to cross Rs 108 crores this weekend. Then of course the mega-blockbuster Gadar-2  ( racing towards Rs 300 crores ) starring Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel which has generated a hysterical frenzy at the box office.  Also making its powerful impact is superstar Rajinikanth's Jailor which having crossed Rs 450 crores is fast racing towards the Rs 500 crores mark at the box-office

What is very interesting is that the superhit star actors Gadar-2 hero Sunny Deol, Pathaan hero Shahrukh  Khan, Jailer hero Rajinikanth and OMG-2 hero Akshay Kumar. Dharmendra-Shabaana Azmi-Jaya Bachchan ( Rocky aur Rani)   are all above 55 years of age and some are over 65 years of age. But yet they are commanding the love respect and adulation of their fans. Explains director Anil Sharma, “ There is a wrong misconception that ols actors are not acceptable. If the content in the movies is very good, it is an extra advantage because the popular senior stars already have a strong bonding with their loyal fans from past--so many decades, “ shares director Anil Sharma who is planning to finalize the Gadar3 movie within 22 weeks. But Anil Sharma also has one more proposed movie project with Nana Patekar and his handsome macho talented son Utkarsh Sharma who played the grown-up Jeete in Gadar2. It may be recalled that Nana Patekar has given his bass resonant ‘voice-over’ narration in Gadar2.
