Box-office sensation (120 crores) –B’Day girl Alia Bhatt (‘Gangubai’) thanks All her Fans

Acclaimed star-actress Alia Bhatt is riding atop the peak of Bollywood box-office waves. Coinciding with her 29th birthday on Tuesday ( March 15th) comes the super-thriller news that her latest movie Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ box-office collections is racing towards Rs 120 crores and is even reportedly overtaking the lifetime collections of Ram Leela - Chaitanya Padukone

His Alia Bhatt starrer is now the third biggest grosser for Bhansali with Padmaavat reigning from the top and Bajirao Mastani following next.

The ‘showman’ director Bhansali has been delivering blockbusters at a rapid pace. Interestingly, with Gangubai doing so well, the filmmaker has proved that even without his favorite lucky-mascot screen-pair of Ranveer Singh--Deepika Padukone, he can hit the box-office bulls-eye.

Gangubai Kathiawadi backed by co-producer Jayantilal Gada, is the only film which is hardly affected by rousing–rising theatre audience responses to the controversial, hard-hitting yet box-office hit movie The Kashmir Files.

According to cine-trade analysts Gangubai Kathiawadi is expected to cross the milestone 150 crores mark and that would be a monumental milestone worth celebrating for all associated with it, including producer Jayantilal Gada
The adventurous Alia celebrated her special birth-day on a private island in Maldives with her sister Shaheen Bhatt and mother Soni Razdan.

The media-savvy Alia on Wednesday took to Instagram to share a video of the celebrations. She captioned it, “this is 29 ☀thank you for all the love.”.

It should not come as a surprise if Alia Bhatt gets the Best Actress National Award for her phenomenal performance in and as ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’’.

The video has Alia relaxing on the beach, having a delicious meal and watching the television show Friends as she celebrates her 29th birthday.

The ‘Raazi’ lead actor also went on an exotic yacht ride. She shared a a glimpse of a card with the text – “Happy birthday & I love you,” from obviously her boyfriend, mega-star actor Ranbir Kapoor

Alia’s actress-mother Soni Razdan (who coincidentally had also played a sultry-siren brothel sex-worker in Shyam Benegal’s landmark movie ‘Mandi’ (1983)) shared a childhood photo of Alia and wrote an emotional note for her daughter.

“Alia means ‘exalted’ and that you most certainly are. Apart from the fact that today you’re a bright star. When we named you we didn’t have a clue.

That this is what your name meant, and that it might come true,” read a part of her caption.

On the filmy career front, busy-as-ever Alia Bhatt has RRR, Brahmastra, Darlings, Jee Le Zaraa and Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani in her kitty. She will also be seen alongside Gal Gadot and Jamie Dornan in her first international movie ‘Heart of Stone’ (Patthar Dil)
