CBI probe begins on singer KK's death

A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) was filed in the Calcutta High Court seeking a CBI inquiry into the death of singer-composer Krishnakumar Kunnath, popularly known as KK.

KK who passed away on Tuesday,May 31, hours after performing at a music concert in Kolkata. He was in Kolkata for a two-day music concert and while performing on the Nazrul stage his health started deteriorating. It is being said that he died of a suspected heart attack.

The PIL filed through advocate Ravi Shankar Chattopadhyay was mentioned before Chief Justice Prakash Srivastava and Justice Rajarshi Bhardwaj today on June 6 and sought urgent hearing of the petition. The Division Bench directed the concerned counsel to file the PIL.

While stating his point in the petitioner, he said that there was complete mismanagement in the Nazrul Manch and the negligence on the part of the local administration is the reason for this, because of this a CBI inquiry is necessary.

According to reports , KK had returned to his hotel after performing at a concert in Kolkata on Tuesday night when he complained of uneasiness, He was then taken to the hospital where he was declared brought dead.

Shortly after a video of him was getting viral on the internet in which he could be seen looking exhausted, drenched in sweat. After which the police have registered a case of unnatural death in this case.

The West Bengal government on Wednesday paid last respects to the body of the famous Bollywood singer with a gun salute, Soon after the BJP alleged negligence in KK's death  with the party's national vice president Dilip Ghosh calling the 53-year-old's death a "murder".

BJP West Bengal Vice President Soumitra Khan has also written a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah demanding a CBI probe and the court has now ordered an investigation.
