Our life is incomplete without our friends. They are not just our companions in good and bad times but are also our confidantes. Friendship is a universal thing. We can be friends with anyone, be it our parents, siblings, relatives, neighbors, dogs, trees and so on. A child might find the closest friend in their non-living playmates. World Friendship Day on August 6 honors this pure and beautiful bond that we all cherish. News anchor turned actor Charrul Malik on what friendship is to her.

However, I was fortunate to meet a true friend during my stint at a news channel where she was a key team member. Her name is Meghna Bhawsar, and her quick, spontaneous, and transparent nature makes her one of a kind. I doubt I'll ever find another friend like her. She's a critic, unafraid to share both the good and the bad with me,” she says.

Meghna reaches out to Charrul frequently, either by call or message, and she too does the same.
“We share our hearts’ content, providing guidance without judgment and setting each other on the right path. With her, I can be completely unfiltered, without a second thought,” she continues, “Although my current shooting schedule prevents us from making specific plans to meet, we make sure to call each other and exchange wishes.”

For Charrul and Meghna, every day is like a friendship day as they constantly celebrate their bond. “It's a way of expressing our care and love for each other. Sometimes, feelings don't need to be kept hidden; it's good to express them loudly. Friendship Day serves precisely that purpose – reminding us of the friends who have stood by us through thick and thin, allowing us to cherish the journey of our friendship. Currently, we haven't made any concrete plans to meet on the day, but we might decide on something spontaneous later on,” she says. (Charrul Malik)
