Subhash Ghai is very famous in Bollywood for making excellent films. The 1993 film Khalnayak is one of his best films. This film was very famous in its time. Sanjay Dutt played a special role in the role of hero in this anti-hero film. At the time the actor was offered this film, he was not involved in the 1993 Mumbai blasts. But before the film was completed, news of his arrest had arrived. At that time many famous actors wanted to play this role but Subhash Ghai had made up his mind not to cast any other actor other than Sanjay Dutt.
Anil Kapoor wanted the role
In an interview, Subhash Ghai revealed that Anil Kapoor had also come forward for this role. He wanted to play the character of Ballu in the film and the actor was also ready to go bald for the film. “Five or six heroes came to me and said that they wanted to do the villain. Anil Kapoor came and said I am ready to go bald. I said I will choose only the person who fits the role and the only person who fits the role is Sanjay Dutt." Subhash believed that Sanjay could make the character look dangerous and as well as innocent if needed.
Imitated the filmmaker
Subhash Ghai said that when he asked Sanjay Dutt to act, he asked the filmmaker to perform every scene after which he would copy the director. Said, 'You act and I will imitate you' and he imitated me exactly. He copied all the scenes of the villain.
Was sentenced to jail
For information, let us tell you that after shooting the film, Sanjay Dutt was arrested for possessing weapons and being involved in the 1993 Mumbai bomb blasts. The actor was sentenced to 5 years and his sentence was completed in the year 2016.
