CONFIRMED: SHAHID KAPOOR AND SHRADDHA KAPOOR TO REUNITE FOR BATTI GUL METER CHALU
New Update

2017  turned out to a mild year for Aashiqui 2 actress Shraddha Kapoor as her films like Ok Jaanu, Half Girlfriend and Haseena Parkar failed to impress her fans. But it seems that 2018 will be Shraddha's year as she earlier signed film Saaho to play the leading lady opposite Baahubali actor Prabhas and recently she bagged the leading role in Shree Narayan Singh directorial  Batti Gul Meter Chalu(BGMC). The news is confirmed by the producer herself that the leading pair of Haider Shahid and Shraddha will reunite again for  Batti Gul Meter Chalu which is also socially relevant as it highlights the issues of electricity shortage that the common man faces.

Confirming that Shraddha will play the female lead, producer Prernaa Arora told Hindustan Times, "We will start shooting in February with Shahid and Shraddha. It’s an interesting project and everyone in the team is looking forward to it."

Producer Preenaa added, "It’s a love story and at the same time a socially relevant film. We wanted to highlight the issues we face with electricity in our day to day lives. It has an important message. There have been instances that we are out of station and there is no one in the house for a few days in a month, but at end of 30 days we would end up getting high electricity bill. How is that possible? So there is a tone of sarcasm and it’s obvious from the title."

Directed by  Toilet: Ek Prem Katha fame director Shree Narayan Singh, the film is scheduled to hit the theatres on August 31.
