Native to the Sindh province of Pakistan pre-partition, in 1947 most Sindhis migrated to the newly formed India while many others dispersed to the rest of the world. 70 years later, for the first time, the Indian Sindhi community is congregating to commemorate and share the Sindh experience of the partition. Titled - Journey through Sindh A Lost Homeland, an event has been organised at the Partition Museum in Amritsar on 17th and 18th August 2019. While the cultural weekend will be an event marked by Sindhi music, food, literature and memories; it will also host renowned Sindhi personalities from across the country who will share their memories from the partition and their experiences of migrating to a new land.

Dalip Tahilramani aka Dalip Tahil, the renowned Hindi cinema actor is one of the dignitaries participating in the event. He will be sharing his family's story of loss, migration, and settlement in India, in context to the experience of the Sindhi community.“I was born in Agra, in independent India, 5 years after the partition but I have some very vivid recollection of the distress that my family went through post partition. While most of the family had to just leave everything behind in Sindh, my grandfather stayed on until his last breath holding on to the possessions that he had built over his lifetime. I feel privileged to be called upon to be part of the event, and to be able to share my experience with the community. I look forward to meeting and bonding with my people,” signs off Dalip Tahil.
