Aamir Khan's Dangal has gone on to to become one of the most acclaimed and loved Hindi films of recent times and the film has now achieved a rather hard-to-believe milestone. The film has exalted to the list of the highest grossing non-English movies in the history of cinema, where it stands fifth.
According to a report in Forbes, Dangal has summed up a total of $306 million at the global box-office, after the dream opening in China and Taiwan, and is just a few crores away from reaching the massive figure of 2000 Crore. The top four non-English movies which are above Dangal on the list are :
- The Mermaid ( $533 million) - Chinese
- The Intouchables ($427 million) - French
- Monster Hunt ($386 million) - Chinese
- Your Name ($354 million) - Japanese
It is being speculated that SS Rajamouli's Baahubali: The Conclusion could be the next Indian film to make it to this list once it releases in China and Japan in July. However, we must remember that Baahubali: The Beginning failed to leave a mark on the Chinese box-office so whether the sequel works or not is something only time will tell.
