Talking at a panel on Activism vis arts, Film maker, Vivek Agnihotri said, “We live in a very mixed of world. Let’s look at the film industry where 70% - 80% come from glamorous world so that they get media attention and coverage but, nobody gives coverage to betibachao and betipadhao. Today, there is great work happening in villages at grass-root level, where structures are being put into place. There are so many beneficiaries. This is real genuine activism, but since it’s come from the government, so many NGOs Nobody talks about it.”publive-image

Even in film industry, if we want to start real activism then start by providing basic facilities to women crew members. Real activism is there.publive-image

Talking in Feminism and Activism, Bollywood actress Raveena Tandon said, “Today women are standing on their own feet, they are pursuing whatever they want and are getting equal job opportunities. But there is a lot more to do in that aspect.publive-image

On talking about faith and religion, she said “Faith is a broader aspect which an individual should be allowed to practice the way they want. We have a lot of communities in our country and they all follow their own practices and have different tradition. We should respect that. As long as anyone is not harming, hurting or mutilating, bloodletting or creating any nuisance, a person should be allowed to practice harmlessly what they want to as an act of love.publive-image

Talking about feminism in the film industry, she says, “I see a very positive change as well as more inclusiveness in the industry. Today, there are a lot more women at the helm of affairs in every department of film making which is a very positive sign, and because of this there are a lot more opportunities for women. The pay disparity is also reaching an equal situation now.” publive-image

Also talking at the panel on Feminism and Activism, Smriti Irani, Member of Parliament, said, “A a movement that began in the 1800s for political rights, you seek to seefrom the prism of tradition, religion and faith and that is where the dichotomin stems from. It also depends from which prism you look at the tradition. Our traditions warn us that the capacity to nurture, protect and fulfil all the vows is that of a woman so there is not greater celebration about the potential and capacity of a woman than we find in Indian traditions and text.publive-image

Talking about reservation for women, smriti said, “It is not seeking or reflecting a desire ensure men vacate their space. It is a desire to give women equal opportunity to compete basis sheer hard-work and talent.”publive-image

Also adding, Indian actress, MalvikaAvinash said, “I think fundamentally where we come from, the thought processes, the ideology suggests what your perspective of the world is. Some see only negative while some see only the positive. I believe that it’s a beautiful world with beautiful things in it. I have a heritage that I am proud of that no other civilization has.”
