The sudden accidental death of Sridevi left the world in utter shock. Deepika Padukone too was shocked and saddened by the news of Sridevi's sudden death and was amongst the first stars to reach Anil Kapoor's residence. She also flew in from Bangalore to attend Sridevi's condolence meet.
While interacting with Filmfare Middle East, Deepika was asked about her memories of Sridevi. She said, “My relationship with Sridevi was beyond the movies. She was like a mother figure to me. After every single film of mine after Love Aaj Kal, I would get a call from Boney Kapoor and after he congratulated me, Sri would come on the line. I developed a sense of familiarity and comfort with her. A few days before she left for Ras al Khaimah in the UAE, she spoke to me.”
Deepika added that she is shocked and said they would discuss health and other stuff. She also said that Sridevi was concerned for her as she lived alone. She said; “Between us it was ‘I know who you are but I also know the person.’
Deepika recently attended the TIME magazine gala and talked about the issue of mental health and pay parity.
