Deepika Padukone is the latest actress to turn a producer with her sensitive film Chhapaak. The film which revolves around the trials and tribulations of the acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal is all set to go on the floors by the end of March this year and is being produced by Deepika Padukone in collaboration with Meghna Gulzar as well as Fox Star Studios. With Chhapaak, Deepika Padukone will return to the screen almost after a year and a half after her last release- Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus Padmavat. To prepare for her part, Deepika Padukone, according to Mumbai Mirror is putting almost eight hours every day and besides readings with Meghna, she is also referencing pictures and videos of Laxmi. Deepika is also going through the data on 10 other acid attack survivors in order to understand the subject better and give her 100 per cent to her role. Meghna confesses that when she had first laid her eyes on the first pictures of Laxcmi before the attack, the only person she could think of casting was Deepika but she did not even think in her wildest dreams that Deepika would immediately agree to do the role, because it is not easy when your face is your calling card to do a role like this which is very challenging to any actress by disguising her face as it is indeed a difficult path to tread.
