As we earlier reported that Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum opus Padmavat is all set to release on 25 January after getting a clearance from CBFC. But it seems that the Rajasthan government is not so happy with CBFC's final decision and they ban the film in Rajasthan.
In a statement, Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje said, "Keeping in mind the sentiments of the people residing in Rajasthan, the film Padmavat won't be screened in any of the theatres of the state. She added that queen Padmini's sacrifice is not just a chapter in the history books, but is also related to the honour of the state. It reflects the pride of the people and they won't let anything hurt the honour of queen Padmini. For honouring the sentiments of the people of the state, the film will not be released in Rajasthan.
The home minister Gulab Chand Kataria also stated that following the orders of Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, Padmavat won't be released in Rajasthan.
