Did the change in his name from Inquilab to Amitabh change his destiny?

Shakespeare may have been right in his times when he asked the now immortal question, "What's in a name?" But if Shakespeare was alive in the 21st century, he would have been more than surprised to know that a name does make a difference, the name which is given to him and how that name is changed by people who are enlightened and can visualize what a name can do to a person.

There are any number of examples to prove Shakespeare wrong, but the one which comes to mind on the anniversary of the great Hindi poet Sumitranandan Pant, is the name of the star of the millennium and the sadi ka mahanayak Amitabh Bachchan.....  - Ali Peter John

Amitabh was given the name Inquilaab (REVOLUTION) when he was born and his paternal surname was Shrivastav. His father, thw renowned poet had taken on the pen name of Bachchan ( like a child) . His mother Mrs Teji Bachchan had approved of the name Inquilaab for her son and life continued..

Dr Harivanshrai Bachchan had many friends in literary circle and the Hindi poet Sumitranandan Pant was his best friend. He asked Dr Bachchan to change his son"s name to Amitabh ( the enlightened one) Dr Bachchan held Pantji in high esteem and willingly changed the name of his son from Inquilaab to Amitabh.

But he is now a part of history and today December 28 is his birth anniversary

The name worked miracles for Amitabh who called himself Amitabh Bachchan and that name is now an essential part of Indian history.

Would Amitabh"s story have been different if his name continued to be Inquilaab Shrivastav? The poet Pant could have given a proper explanation about why he asked his friend Dr Bachchan to call his son Amitabh. But he is now a part of history and today December 28 is his birth anniversary and knowing Amitabh as i do , he must have remembered the man who gave him his name which led him to unprecedented and unparallelel fame.
