I am not a Salman Khan fan and I wasn't even a tad bit excited for the much talked about song to release but as they say, never judge a book by it's cover, as soon as I heard this track I hit the download button and ever since I have been listening to it on loop and also as I type this article. Sung by Atif Aslam, shot in the snow-caped mountains of Tyrol, Austria and picturised on the most loved onscreen jodi, Salman khan and Katrina Kaif, the song has all it takes to be everyone's favourite.
This song makes the process of apologising to your beloved easier which serves as a treat for all the couples in love because isn't pacifying your partner the most difficult job in the world? I ought to admit that Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif's chemistry in the film is as good as a real life couple irrevocably in love with each other. The beauty of the song lies in the way it's been sung but also in the way it's been shot.
Atif Aslam can be deftly touted as the Shahrukh Khan of the music industry, give him a song and he'll create magic with it. This one just adds to the already long list of Atif Aslam songs we can't get enough of. Vishal-Shekhar may have been accused of plagiarism for Swag Se Swagat, but this composition is mind-bogglingly beautiful and it just struck a chord with me when I was barely a few seconds into the song.
Irshad Kamil is known for penning down some hauntingly beautiful lyrics and that's what he did with this one too!
Sataaye mainu kyun
Dikhaaye mainu kyun
Aiven jhuthi mutthi russ ke rusaake
Dil diyan gallan haaye
Karaange naal naal beh ke
Akh naale akh nu mila ke
“I have always wanted to pay a tribute to the classic Yash Chopra romantic songs which I have grown up loving. And I’m thrilled that I finally got that song in Dil Diyan Gallan, an out-and-out romantic ballad on the lines of classic, beautiful love songs that the banner is remembered for by generations,” Zafar said in a statement.
Besides the song itself, the highlight of the love ballad is the painting of Katrina Kaif made by Salman Khan itself. He adds:
Ali adds, “Salman and Katrina shot this song on some very difficult terrain in the Alps. The biggest highlight in this song is the unique Katrina portrait that he has drawn on a frozen lake. We had to shoot on this lake and Salman converted it to a canvas. We had to source natural colors, as ice doesn’t catch all kinds of paints, which didn’t come easy. But once we got hold of this, he created a huge 20 feet by 20 feet portrait that features Katrina’s face. It’s a sight for sore eyes, this painting, and it makes Dil Diyan Gallan a truly unique romantic song visually.”
