not even god's favorite poet can describe love the way the eyes of Dilip Kumar and Vyijanthimala can in this immortal song
Almost every film is made as a tribute to love, but there are some films that breathe, throb and live because of love and the love scenes between some of the greatest actors who live and die during the time they breathe life into the lines describing love in a way the poet or lyricist must have lived life as a lover when writing them  - Ali Peter John

There are thousands of love songs in Hindi films and it is extremely DIFFICULT and even impossible to select a few favourites.

But I say that the love songs between Dilip Kumar and Madubala and Dilip Kumar and Vyjayanthimala are my favourites as a lover who knows the agony and the ecstasy of pure love .
Who can ever forget Dilip Kumar running a silken feather over the face of a sleeping beauty, Madhubala as Anarkali in "Mughal E Azam" ?
And who can forget a passionate lover  like Dilip Kumar looking into the eyes of Madhubala as if he has found heaven and earth in her eyes and who can forget how Dilip Kumar looks like a man who is totally consumed by love and nothing. publive-image
Absolutely nothing matters to him, neither heaven or earth or even God matters to him and he love for his beloved ?
And who can forget Dilip Kumar and Vyjayanthimala play the beautiful game of love in Ram Mukerji's ( the father of Rani Mukerji).
"Leader" made play back in 1964 song Tere Husn Ki Kya Tareef Karu, when I was in school and could still feel like how lovers feel when they are truly and madly in love.
All credit must certainly go to the poet Shakeel Badayuni for writing such wonderful poetry for a Hindi film song.

publive-image All praise must go to the composer who makes the love duet song flow like a river in some remote mountain in the Himalayas and the divine voice of Mohammad Rafi singing in and according to the raag yamen.

But , what could a sky full of talent have done to the song without the absolutely magical performances of two of the greatest artists of our time and all time, Dilip and Vyjayanthi ?
Look up the god- blessed eyes of Vyjayanthimala as she shows how she is mesmerised by the love of Dilip Kumar for her.
If you follow the movements of her expresive eyes , you will if you know anything about love or if you have ever been blessed with the gift to fall in love , you will realise that words however sweet and loving are poor substitutes for expressing her love for the man for whom she has decided to live and die .

publive-imageCan you imagine that this is the same Dilip Kumar in films like Devdas, Ganga Jamuna and Kranti among some of the films he excelled in a tragedian, and Vyjayanthimala is the same actress she was in Sadhana, Devdas , Sangam and many other films she played serious roles ?

No , you cannot , because they are very different actors when challenged to play deferent kinds of roles and meet the challenges which make them the idols of this century and centuries to come .
The song is a teaser were one lover puzzled the beloved with their questions and every question receives a counter question which only goes to show how madly they are in love with each other .

publive-image The mood and the expressions of the lovers even effects the flowers , the birds and the greanery around and they  two seem like lovers who are singing and dancing to the rhythm of the rag Yaman Kalyan which even they know if the raag to sing the most beautiful song about love, the greatest gift God has given to man , the bird even the animals .

The most  powerful expression of love is when Dilip Kumar throws the flower presented to him by Vyjayanthi back to her and it symbolising their coming together and living together till death tears them apart and even beyond life  and death
The birds are still , the leaves and plants have taken a break , the earth is dancing and the sky is showering them with petals and flowers they have not seen till they have fallen in love.

publive-image Can any of the composers create a tune like the tune of this song .? Can any of the hundreds of singers sing  the way Rafi Sahab has brought love alive with he heavenly voice for this song ?

These are just some questions that strike the mind with the thud of an old drum, but frankly , can we have another song like this will a composer like Naushad , a poet like Shakeel Badayuni , a singer like the great Rafi and of course the once in many lives actors like Dilip Kumar and  Vyjayanthimala ?
