Dimple Kapadia ‘BOBBY' was born on 8 June'57 in BBy to wealthy parents & aspired to be actress from young age. Was discovered at 14Yrs by Raj Kapur who cast her in the title role of Teen Romance Bobby in '73, a major success. Before film's release she married Rajesh Khanna & quit acting. Dimple returned 2 yrs after separation from Khanna & Film Sagar revived her career. Bobby & Saagar won her Filmfare Awards & She established herself as one of Hindi cinema's leading actresses.

Her initial roles relied on her beauty & sex appeal but she was keen to expand her range. She starred in women-centered films when she took on dramatic roles in mainstream & parallel cinema from marital dramas to literary adaptations. She played troubled women deemed reflective of her personal life & was acclaimed for her roles in Kaash, Drishti, Lekin & Rudaali-in which For her role as a professional mourner she won National Film Award.
