According to Siddhesh, the group had planned to extort Rs 5 crore from Karan Johar by threatening him . According to the investigation, Siddhesh informed about the Sidhu murder case by calling a person named Santosh and Nagnath Suryavanshi as suspects.

According to the police statement, Vikram Brar, brother of Canadian gangster Goldie Brar, had discussed this plan with Siddhesh on Instagram and Signal app.

According to the news agency PTI, a senior official has said that these claims have not been confirmed yet and there is a possibility that Siddhesh is making false claims. He added 'The matter of bragging has come to the fore in his confession with some of the accused. The motive behind bragging is to gain publicity and to collect a large ransom amount. He further revealed that this is a common occurrence in Punjab and neighboring regions.
