I have seen and celebrated seventy Diwalis in my life. I have seen the brightest and the darkest Diwalis, but the Diwali of 2020 was the worst and it looks like the Diwali to come is not going to be much better - Ali Peter John

And if there is one reason for the atmosphere to look so bleak and almost depressing, it is the curse of the Corona virus and the resulting pandemic and the series of lockdowns.

How could a bright and joyful festival like Diwali be celebrated when there was so much of darkness and despair and death all around?

In normal times, the end of October would have been a time when people and especially stars and other celebrities would go out into the open, throw all rules to the wild winds and let their hair loose and shop till they dropped dead and had a grand party during every day of the festival of lights.

But, this year , like last year the stars have once again decided to make Diwali a low key affair and most of them have decided to stay at home and some lucky ones are already in some exotic locations and some are packing their bags for short and long holidays far away from all the sound and fury of the festival season.

It is under these circumstances that I spoke to some of the stars about their plans for Diwali and this is what some of them had to say .....

DHARMENDRA

Ab woh Diwali ke din kahan se waapis aayenge ? Ab toh na phatako ki awaaz acchi lagti hai, ab toh na meetaaiyon mein meetaas lagti hai aur na phoolo mein khooshbu ka ehsaas hota hai, ab toh gale lagne bhi darr lagta hai. Aise mahool mein koi Diwali manaane bhi chaahe toh kaise manaaye?

JEETENDRA

Humaare Diwali ke din khatam ho gaye. Woh din bhi kya din the jab hum sab milkar jhoomte the, gaate the, thodasa nasha bhi karte the, juaa bhi khelte the aur woh Diwali ke din kaise nikal jaate the pata hi nahi chalta tha.

Ab woh sab dhoondla dhoondla sa yaadon ki duniya ka hissa ban chuka hai. Yehi toh zindagi hai, kabhi dhoop kabhi chhaaon.

Ab toh bas ghar bhaitkar baccho ke saath bacche bankar Diwali mannana baakhi reh gaya hai.

Main dukhi bilkul nahi hoon. Humane hamaare hisse ki jawani bhi dekh li aur Diwali bhi dekh li

Diwali khelte khelte main ,65 saal ka bhi hogaya aur naana bhi hogaya, kabhi socha na tha.

Waqt ke saath chalna sikaatha hai, Diwali. Kal hum jhoomte the, gaate the, aaj hum door araam kursion par baitkar tamashaa dekhte hai. Zindagi tamashaa nahi toh aur kya hai ?

Bhidu Diwali ka bhi rang aisa badlega kisne socha tha ? Isilye bolta hoon har kadam sambaalkar rakhna , kaunsa Corona kab aakar dhank maarega kisko maaloom ? Main toh chala mere farm par, kuch dimaag ko araam de kar aata hoon.

It has been a very trying time for all of us and we all need a break before we start a new season of light in the mind and hope in the heart.

Let's wish each other a very happy Diwali even if we don't have enough reasons to be happy .

Every astrologer who predicted a bright Diwali for me in 2020 proved to be miserably wrong as not one of my big films were released and I had to celebrate my disappointment.

This Diwali is also going to be the same for me. Will this dark cloud hovering over me leave me, for God's sake ?

In ,2020 I was the maker of ,"Brahmastra", the biggest film of the time, in 2021. I am still waiting for judgment to be passed on my film.

And I don't know how much longer I will have to wait ? They say Diwali is a festival of light. But my festival of light will start only when " Brahmastra" is released
