Two months ago , Rajnikant was in a very different world . His admirers , millions of them wanted him to take the final decision about his entering politics . All the leading political parties in the country and the hungry media was also eagerly waiting to hear what Rajni had to say about his joining the fray with his new political party and many were even seeing dreams about his being the next C M of Tamil Nadu .

There were journalists and the electronic media from different parts of the world who had planted themselves in different hotels in Chennai as no one wanted to miss out on any story to do with Rajni and his political journey . There were political experts who saw him aligning with the BJP and the BJP made no attempts to hide their feelings for Rajni and even the Prime Minister and the Home Minister were depending on him to draw the millions of his followers and fans towards the ideoligy of the BJP , but Rajni held his cards close to his chest and did not give any indication of which way he would go . Rajni and his politics was in the news for more then two years and he had even said that he would read his Party and guide his growing number of admirers , but he would not aim for the Chief Minister's post as he didn't consider himself to be fit to rule the state which had given him everything in life .

Even as there were rumours and gossip about Rajni entering politics , he flew to Hyderabad to shoot for his most ambitious film in Tamil, "Annahatte" and the shooting went on regularly in different parts of Hyderabad and the local and national press kept hovering around him , but he had nothing new to tell them .

He returned late from his shooting one evening and he was very sick . His blood pressure was fluctuating and he was feeling weak and uncomfortable . His family rushed him to the Apollo Hospital in Hyderabad where he had to spend a week to be treated by the best doctors. And a day before he was discharged from hospital , he made a statement that shook up film and especially political circles . He made it very clear that he was not in a condition to play his role as a politician seriously and besides his doctors and his close family had pleaded with him not to play the game of politics at his age ( he is 70 now and is wracked by a number of ailments ) . With just one spell of hospitalisation, the political career of Thalaiva ( legendary actor) had come to a crashing end . His admirers created a scene of panic all over Tamil Nadu and begged of him to take back his decision to renounce politics and many even threatened to harm themselves if he did not . But Rajni had made up his mind once and for all , he would not take back his decision to give up politics strictly because of his health problems .

The election campaigns in Tamil Nadu were taking all kinds of colours and Rajni's friend and rival Kamal Hassan had also joined politics and was contesting elections under his party name , Makkal Needhi Mahlai and was giving the other parties a tough fight, but Rajni was resting in his house at Poes Garden where he was once the neighbour of the late Chief Minister Ms J . Jayalalitha and was taking stock of the political scenario .

It was while he was far away from the crowds and politics that he was surprised by the central government's decision to honour him with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award which has also been seen as a political move of the ruling party . But it doesn't seem like it has made any impact on the sadhu " Rajnikant" .....

And just two days ago Rajni took a private aircraft and flew to Hyderabad to continue with the shooting of "Annahatte" in Hyderabad , the shooting of which was held up because of his being hospitalised . It only shows that Rajni is now more interested in playing challenging roles in films than in indulging in dirty politics which is certainly not the best thing to do for a man who is adored and worshipped by his people without his joining politics .

"Annahatte " is the biggest film Rajni is working in today . It is directed by Shiva who is a favourite of Rajni, and it has other stars from the south like Nayanthara, Keerthi Suresh and Prakash Raj in other key roles . But every one who knows Rajni knows that it is one more film which will revolve around Rajni , because there is no film with Rajni that cannot be made with Rajni as the central character. Anyone who dares to make a film with Rajni in a lesser role will only be doing it at his or her own risk.
