I didn’t have to be a prophet, astrologer or any kind of holy or fake god man to predict that Richa Chadda or anyone associated with a film line “Madam Chief- Minister” would be in serious trouble when the film was released.
But I had to only wait for the trailer to see what I thought about the film came true. From the day the trailer was out, there were protests against the film all over the country.

But the real protests started after the film was released on the OTT

A large section of people saw the character played by Richa as a reflection on Mayavati, the Dalit woman leader who rose to be the chief minister of U.P.
But the real protests started after the film was released on the OTT platform on January 22. This time Richa was the target.

The worst happened when a leader of the Ambedkar party threatened Richa and told her that she would have to be ready to face the wrath of his followers for showing the Dalit’s in a derogatory manner.

Richa is also planning to get married to her long time friend

And the leader didn’t stop with just the threat, but issued a warning to Richa and told her that she would have to take care because he had issued an instruction to cut Richa’s tongue and had said that anyone who could cut her tongue would be awarded two crores and be honoured with a certificate in the name of Dr B.R Ambedkar.

When Richa came to know about a threat, she said she found it comical and wondered how the followers of Ambedkar who were supposed to practice peace could have such violent ideas. She said they could have spent the two crores on welfare activities which could do a world of good to the people. The film is doing well even as the protests are going wilder and Richa is already involved in the two other films she is to do in he time to come. And she is also planning to get married to her long time friend, the actor Ali Faisal.

How many other threats will a brave and bold actress like Richa have to face in a country where intolerance is becoming a habit.
