The noted and renowned film, television and stage actor Aanjjan Srivastav celebrated his 72nd birthday with his close IPTA friends and select media persons on the 2nd of June at his spacious and cozy apartment at Goregaon in Mumbai. Aanjjan Srivastav’s wife Madhu, his two daughters Noopur and Ranjana, his son Abhishek Srivastav and son-in-law Sandeep Sinha made the evening memorable for the ‘Birthday Boy’ by playing a perfect host at the close gathering. “I am open to do any role that gives me personal satisfaction whether it be in films, TV Serials, Theatre and even the new age OTT platforms. The sole criterion is to do meaningful roles. I wish to do more negative shades which I haven’t tapped so long.”

As Aanjjan is associated with Indian People’s Theatre Association (IPTA) in Mumbai of which he has remained Vice-President for several years, several of the IPTA personalities like M S Sathyu, Rakesh Bedi, Jaspal Sandhu , Ramesh Talwar, Sulabha Arya and Kanwaljeet Singh and others were also present. Aanjjan Srivastav is also known as a character actor in Marathi and Hindi films, most notably, Mira Nair’s Salaam Bombay!

Among other notable films he has done, he stands out for his performance in Mississippi Masala and Bollywood films like Golmaal, Bemisal, Khuda Gawah, Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa and Pukar. Having made a mark as the quintessential “common man” in the TV series ‘Wagle Ki Duniya’ (1988–90) and then in ‘Wagle Ki Nayi Duniya’ Aanjjan Srivastav has acted in more than 180 films spanning his acting career of more than 40 years and over 40 plays, many of them jubilee hits, including Bakri, Moteram Ka Satyagrah, Shatranj Ke Mohre, Ek Aur Dronacharya and Chakkar Pe Chakkar.

“I am still hungry for meaty roles in not only films but also theatre as well as web series and TV. After I was appreciated for my performances as Atal Bihari Vajpayee in films like Sanjay and Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently, right now on the anvil are my forthcoming films like Rakesh Sawant’s Dhara 370, Dheeraj Pandit’s Junction Varanasi, Manoj’s Time Nahi Hai and a short film called Painted directed by Yogi Chopra”, Aanjjan signs off.
