He was a father figure for many , including me , he was a perfect lndian who treated all lndians like his family and his heart beat for the poor and the downtrodden which he proved more by action than by words .

He treated his star like his own family and there are countless instances to prove it even today .

He was very kind to his sister who lived in his house with her son and he took care of everything in the house and his sister cared for him more than she cared for herself .

Shams was not his real sister but she gave him all the reasons to belive that he was more than a brother to her .

Who was Shams aunty as she was known by many ? She was the wife of Inder Raj Anand , one of the best and highest paid writers of Hindi films during the 50s, 60s and 70s and had written some of the best films like "Sangam", "Aah" , "Safar" and even some very successful commercial films like "Haathi Mere Saathi " and "Shahenshah"

Anand was a very close friend of Abbas , but they had very strong ideological and political differences .

Anand was an ardent critic of Jawaharlal Nehru while Abbas was an ardent admirer of Nehru .

They had serious debates which led to a very tense atmosphere and it was Shams who was a homemaker who brought peace between them and made them the best friends they were again .

Shams took great care of Abbas, especially when he fell sick . And Abbas had so much care and affection for her that he even walked all the way to the house of Shams when he had broken his foot in a freak accident at Moscow Airport.

Shams was the wall that stood erect whenever Abbas was about to fall . She didnt understand the ideology for any of the issues that Abbas stood for and always rose to his defense even when it was a tussle between Abbas and her husband Anand .

On different occasions and festivals , Shams prepared a special lunch or dinner for Abbas . She was a sister who was more than a sister to Abbas

Shams died soon after the deaths of the two friends, Anand and Abbas and life was not the same again .

Shams is the mother of director Tinnu Anand and producer Bittu Anand who is the father of Siddharth Anand who is now considered to be in the big league of directors .
