I was in a village called Melkote several kilometres away from Bandya in Bangalore , covering the shooting of Boney Kapoor's first film as a producer , "Hum Paanch" which had several old and new actors like Sanjeev Kumar , Shabana Azmi Raj Babbar , Mithun Chakraborty , Naseeruddin Shah , Deepti Naval , and Amrish Puri - Ali Peter John

It was Boneys challenge to produce the film and save his father's banner which had gone through heavy losses after making films that failed at the box office .

He needed trustworthy young man to cooperate with him in the making of his film . He had the courage to build an entire village in Melkote and had the best facilities for all the artist which included 24 hours electricity , hot and cold water and STD facilities to talk to Bombay or any other city.

He needed a young , handsome and well behaved man to take care of all the needs of the stars and even the junior artists . He found that man in his younger brother , Anil Kapoor who was not doing anything and was dreaming of becoming of an actor.

It took Anil Kapoor a very short time to build a perfect rapport with one and all , including the visiting journalist who kept telling Boney that Anil could make it as s very good star and actor , but Boney hardly had any time to take them seriously .

Till one day , the director of Hum Paanch Bapu told Boney to give Anil into his hands and he would not succeed in making him a star , but he would certainly make him a very good actor.

Boney couldn't defy Bapu , but he needed time to start a film with Anil, but Bapu had no time and launch Anil as the hero of his Kannada film which turned to be a hit. Anil soon walked in bit role in prestigious films like Shakti , Hamaare Tumhaare and Ek Baar Kaho .

But Bapu had not given up hope on Anil till Boney agreed to start " Woh Saat Din " with Bapu as the director and Naseeruddin Shah , Padmini Kholapure and Anil in the leading role.

The film turned out to be a hit and Anil Kapoor was a star and today forty years later, he is not only a national star , but an international star . He has his own production company .
