Award-winning short film Ek Duaa deals with social ordeals and issues that are often faced by women. This is a soul-stirring touchy subject of ‘female foeticide’ that will make people think and probably change their mentality also. The film had fetched many International awards and finally merited the highest honor from the Government of India which makes this film all the more memorable. "I am truly blessed," says charismatic lead actress Esha Deol who also produced the film. "When Ram Kamal narrated me the story, I was certain that I will make this film and this would be my first film as a producer."
Former Editor of leading Bolly-fanzine magazine ‘Stardust,’ the erudite Ram Kamal, who is currently working on two Bengali films in Kolkata says, "My phone has been ringing since the announcement. I am touched with the kind of congratulatory texts and voice messages I am receiving from Mumbai, Kolkata and other metro cities and even from overseas.. I am glad that the discerning, honorable National Awards Jury Members felt this film deserves a special place amongst all the other bigwig winners!", reacts Ram Kamal who is the highly acclaimed author of best-seller biographies of legendary senior actors like the eternal ‘dream-girl’ Hema Malini, the sensational Sanjay Dutt and also the mysterious Mithun Chakraborty. Incidentally, the biography book of Hema Malini was released amidst fanfare by guest mega-star Deepika Padukone, who mentioned that she has always considered Hema-jee as among her top icon-inspirations.
