Eminent Gujarati poet Dr. Sudhir Desai’s very popular song “Vhalam Nu Naam” which has been sung by many well-known Gujarati singers since many years has now been recorded by Dandia- Queen Falguni Pathak with the name “Madhmithu Naam” and was released online recently by Times Music on the occasion of Navratri.Its melodious music has been composed by a distinguished music director from Mumbai late Shri Rasbihari Desai.

The gentle – romantic love song speaks of the beloved’s name “Vhalam nu Naam” and the shy protagonist says how she would reveal her beloved’s name ? Further she says that she has kept the name safely in a treasure chest in her mind and when opened she would fly to reach out to him.

Dr. Sudhir Desai, who is a very eminent Gujarati poet & a scholar, has written many songs which have been sung since last 6 decades by celebrated singers like Manna Dey, Usha Mangeshkar, Bhupinder Singh, Anuradha Paudwal, Dilraj Kaur, Nina-Rajendra Mehta, Purushottam Upadhyay as well as others. With more than 35 books to his credit Dr. Desai has received many awards from Gujarat Sahitya Akademi, Gujarati Sahitya Parishad, Maharashtra Rajya Gujarati Sahitya Akademi and many respected literary organizations.

Desai’s poems have been translated in many languages such as Tamil, Hindi, Urdu, Marathi & English. He is one of the foremost scholars on Kashmiri Shaivism in Gujarat & has delivered many studied commentaries on the subject all over India. Students from many Universities of Gujarat have done MPhils & PhDs on his literary works and his poems have been part of the Curriculum in Maharashtra and Gujarat school textbooks. According to his daughter Dhvani Desai, in the last two days itself, since its release, the song has gone viral with 7 lakh views and counting.
