The biopic on Shahir Sable who was known as the 'Shahir of Maharashtra' is set to add more records to its profile. The producers and music directors Ajay-Atul in an unprecedented gesture picked a class -6 boy who had become famous through his YouTube video of his song Chandra, an opportunity to sing a song on childhood Shahir. The child prodigy is set to become popular across the state with the song in the film to be released in April next year.

The music director duo found Jayesh Khare's video which went viral on social media for his song from the recently released Chandramukhi and approached him to sing a song from Maharashtra Shahir. The song is sung by the childhood character of Shahir on the silver screen. Jayesh Khare, who is from class six in a local school in a village 30-km away from Rahuri near Shirdi, was approached by the music director duo and brought him to Mumbai. After putting him up in a star hotel, the music directors made him rehearse for two days in preparation for the song.

Jayesh hails from a very humble family and has been singing from the age of 4. His father plays keyboard in a local orchestra which employs him for just six months a year. He works as a farm labourer for the rest of the year for the livelihood and the studies of his son. The father realised the singing potential of his son during his childhood and encouraged him to hone his singing skills.

Ajay-Atul is a leading music director duo in Marathi and Hindi film industry. The music director is being applauded for their rare feast of finding the talent with a proactive approach to give the hidden talent from a small village an opportunity on a larger scale.

"Jayesh has sung the song for the childhood Sable with vigour and has proved his mettle. Ajay-Atul played a key role in bringing this talent to the mainstream and bringing out 100% of the talent in Jayesh. We recorded the song in Yashraj Studios. Jayesh was mesmerized with the grandeur of the studio. Jayesh too has given full justice to the song," said Kedar Shinde, director of the film. He is grandson of Shahir Sable.

Maharashtra Shahir is based on Shahir Sable's life. The biopic, expected to be released in April next year, is being produced as part of Shahir's centenary year on September 3, 2022. Popularly known as Maharashtra’s Shahir, Shahir Sable’s birth centenary year will be celebrated from September 03, 2022 to September 03,2023. ‘Maharashtra Shahir’, the biographical film, will be released in April 2023. Shahir Sable, who gave us hits like- ‘Jai Jai Maharashtra Majha’, ‘Maharashtra Bhumi Bahuguni…Shobhte Khani, Kiti Narmani…’ , ‘Ya Go Dandyavarun’, ‘Jejurichya Khanderaya Jaagrala ya..’, will be portrayed by leading Marathi actor Ankush Choudhari. Shahir’s wife Bhanumati played a stellar role in shaping up his career. Many of the songs sung by Shahir were written by Bhanumati and such her character played by Sana Kedar Shinde assumes importance.

Presented by Everest Entertainment and Kedar Shinde Productions, 'Maharashtra Shahir' is produced by Sanjay Chhabria and Bela Kedar Shinde. Music is given by the all-time favorite duo Ajay-Atul, while the script has been written by famous writer-director Pratima Kulkarni. The information about the actors portraying Shahir's contemporaries shall be made public in a phased manner.

Shahir aka Krishnarao Sable was associated with the social movement since his childhood. He actively participated in 1942’s Quit India movement, Goa and Hyderabad liberalisation movement and Unified Maharashtra Movement. He was felicitated with many prestigious awards including Padmashri, Sangeet Natak Academy, Maharashtra Gaurav. Born on September 3, 1923, Sable came from a very humble background and had studied till Std VII.
