Tell us something about your character in the show ‘Yeh Jhuki Jhuki Si Nazar’?

Dia is well educated, well read, confident, independent women, who is very much comfortable in her own skin color despite of the fact she has been judged all her life because of her complexion.

She ignores the judgements passed on by others and lives her life in her own way and has been fighting with discrimination. She believes that “Achievement has no colour”. She respects her elders and always help the ones in need.

Tell us about the various preparations that you have done for your character in the show?

As an artist I always start working on the backstory of the character. It’s important to understand the who, what, where, why of the character. I believe that’s what brings flesh and bones to the character. I would start it with the easiest question “where was I born”

What is in store for the audience from the show?

Ye Jhuki Jhuki Si Nazar is the journey of Dia, who is dark complexioned and her fight with the society.

Its an Inspiring show with a meaningful message that one should never judge anyone on based of their skin color. After all we humans are vulnerable and deal with same kind of emotions.

Tell us about your look / costumes for this show?

Dia loves wearing Indian outfits also she is proud of her long hair as for her it represents her strength.

How do you feel working with Star Plus and on their new show ‘Yeh Jhuki Jhuki Si Nazar’?

Star Plus is the most popular Hindi Entertainment Television Channel which creates content that inspires people in some or other way and I’m glad that I’m leading a show with such a strong message on such a big platform.

Have you taken any particular inspiration for your character? If yes, then tell us why and how has it helped you portray your character?

I am a movie buff, be it Indian cinema or western, I love everything about cinema, especially the art of filmmaking, dialogues and cinematography.

I admire the works of Smita Patil, Shabana Azmi, Deepti Navel and Meryl Streep. So watching their work has always inspired me to work better and find new aspects of the character and to connect with the audience on an emotional level.

Tell us about the bond you share with your co-star Ankit?

Ankit is sweet-natured, fun loving guy. I appreciate Ankit as an actor being present. It makes the scene even more powerful.

We both bring our own craft and have a discussion before every scene. We are always up to try new things, to hear each other and respond to what’s happening in the moment, in the scene. There has been a sense of trust on set.

Tell us about the bond you share with your co-star Manasi Joshi Roy?

Manasi Ma’am is a lovely co actor and a beautiful human being. We have shot just one small sequence so far. But we connect a lot on art and books.

What makes this show different from other shows?

Story and the execution. It has a deep plot, steering emotions, captivating characters. It consists of lines that can resonate with the audience, stick with them and earn a special place in their heart.

How do you think you have evolved as an artist in all these years?

Now I started questioning and reasoning every gesture of my character which I think is very important for an actor.

How are you keeping yourself fit these days?

Since I don’t get time for a regular workout, right now I mainly focus on my food and diet.

To give my best to ‘Yeh Jhuki Jhuki Si Nazar’

How do you view the Hindi television industry? What excites you to be a part of this new fraternity?

I think Hindi TV industry is no more a saas bahu drama, with different channels and amazing stories it’s no less than any other media platform.

It’s exciting to pe a part of this new fraternity. As I’ve already started getting lots of messages and well wishes from the audience. And how my character is connecting with them.

What else do you see yourself doing next?

Apart from acting I also love to write. I have couple of ideas that I want to execute. As an actor I want to do good work which satisfies my artistic soul.

What is it like shooting for your show in the midst of this new normal?
Somewhere it’s good as we avoid unnecessary interaction and things have become more professional.

After working in Telugu & Hindi movies, what inspired you to take up this Hindi TV Show?

As an actor I don’t judge any platform as far as I’m working on good story and script. Hence this show. I am in love with Diya Mathur’s journey and her story.

Being a wheatish girl myself, I have faced many of such challenges. I believe it’s a big issue and it’s a story that should be told.

Have you shot any outdoor sequences for your show?

Yes, we did shoot in Chandni Chowk in delhi. On the terrace with Jama Masjid in the background It was no less of an experience than shooting a film.
