The dates and venue of the forthcoming ‘International Festival of Short Films of Culture and Tourism (IFFC)’ have been announced. It is evident from the fact that in the first edition of the film festival held in Jaipur, 711 films from 30 countries had participated, while in its sixth edition held in Varanasi, 2312 films from 115 countries participated, out of which 95 films from 45 countries had reached the final stage.

IFFC will be organized on 16,17 & 18th December in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh and it is sponsored by the Tourism Department of Uttar Pradesh Government. It is the only film festival in the world dedicated to culture and tourism.  Prayagraj has been chosen to organize this film festival because of its cultural heritage.

Basu Chatterjee, Shashi Kapoor, Jitendra, Hema Malini, Moushumi Chatterjee, Jaypradha, Khushboo, Bhagyashree, Vijayata Pandit, Rahul Roy, Tina Dutta Sudhanshu Pandey, Aarti Chhabria, Sayaji Shinde, Anil Dhawan, Prakash Jha, Raza Murad, Rakesh Bedi, Akbar Khan, Aditi Govitrikar, N Chandra, Dalip Tahil, Shagufta Ali, Navni Parihar etc. had graced the previous editions of this film festival with their presence.

Bengali actress Debashree Roy

Renowned Bengali actress Debashree Roy was the chairperson of the jury board in this film festival held in Varanasi in the beginning of December last year. Apart from her, famous film character actor Sudhir Pandey, writer-producer Rumi Jaffrey, famous short film director Vinod Ganatra, director Ashwini Tiwari, producer Varun Shetty, actress and model Madhurima Tuli and Culture Secretary of the Assam Government Ashok Burman were the other members of the final jury.  Producer Director Prakash Jha also took a workshop with the budding filmmakers and the audience present, which was much discussed, as he told the tricks of making a good film and greatly enriched the discussion with the examples of his super hit films like Gangaajal, Rajneeti, Chakravyuh, etc. made valuable. Actress Saumya Tandon of the famous TV serial 'Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hain' concluded the program.

This is a golden opportunity for the filmmakers of Uttar Pradesh to enter their films at this festival and participate in the competition. There is no entry fee to submit a film for the competition, unlike other film festivals. In this film festival, a special category of awards has been kept for the filmmakers of Uttar Pradesh and for the films made in Uttar Pradesh, in which filmmakers from Uttar Pradesh or producers-directors from outside can also include films made in Uttar Pradesh in the competition. The last date to send the film is 20th October.

The specialty of this festival is that the submission of films is free and similarly the entry of the audience is also free. This time too many famous personalities from Indian and international film and TV world will participate in the three-day film festival.
