Actors Hema Malini and Paresh Rawal received the honours by Nalanda Dance Research Center

Known as Nalanda Dance Festival 2024, the prestigious event showcased India’s vibrant cultural heritage and celebrated 20 years. Highlighting the enduring heritage of Indian dance and preserving the country’s priceless heritage was a mesmerizing display of tradition, innovation and artistic talent The highlight of the event was Kanakanartan Awards and Bharatmuni Samman Awards, which honored veterans who have made outstanding contributions to the Indian dance world. Uma Raleigh presented these prestigious awards to deserving recipients. Established in 2011, the Nalanda Bharat Muni Samman pays tribute to individuals who have achieved eminence in the field of Indian dance, a symbol of India’s cultural richness.

The honorees include Shri. Ashith Desai, Shrimati Darshana Jhaveri, Shrimati Hema Malini,  Shri Paresh Rawal, and Shrimati  Padma Sharma. Dedicated to the preservation and promotion of Indian dance culture since its inception in 1966, the Nalanda Dance Institute is still strong in its mission. Presented by Nalanda, the Kanaka Nartan Award recognizes individuals who have made outstanding contributions to Indian dance culture. The 2023 winners are Drs. Jayashree Rajagopalan, Shrimati . Keka Sinha, Dr. Prakriti Bhaskar, Dr. Sandeep Soparrkar, and Shri. Vikram Kumar Bathina. Nalanda Dance Festival 2024, celebrated Academic Excellence Awards for outstanding students of Mumbai University courses from Foundation,Graduate Master to PhD level in the hands of laureates for promoting Indian art and nurturing young talent. The event continues to inspire and unite artists across the country, showcasing the power and beauty of a progressive India.
