Actress Kritika Kamra to promote empowerment of women weavers in Chanderi city of Madhya Pradesh

Actress Kritika Kamra will soon visit her hometown in Madhya Pradesh, where she will meet the women artisans who are a key part of her unique fashion initiative launched in 2024. The initiative was started with the aim of empowering women and preserving traditional art. Kritika believes that we should support those who help us realize our creative vision.

Kritika Empowers Women Artisans in Chanderi Textile Industr

Kritika will spend time with the skilled women artisans who have consistently supported her initiative, during her journey. She understands well how important it is to give opportunities to grassroots talent and recognize their contribution, especially in the handloom and textile industry, which has a deep connection with Chanderi, Madhya Pradesh.

Speaking about her trip, Kritika Kamra says, “Madhya Pradesh is very close to my heart. It is not just my hometown but also the place where I get inspiration for my ethnic wear. I always wanted to help the people of my state, especially the women artisans, in some way or the other. Their contribution to my success is extremely important. It is my duty to recognize and appreciate their hard work, dedication and talent. This trip is not just to meet them but also to learn from their inspiring stories and build a strong bond with them.

Kritika further adds, “My mother is from Madhya Pradesh, so I have a personal and deep connection with this state and its people. Since my childhood, my mother introduced me to the beauty of Chanderi, its people and the traditional handloom art here. When we started this initiative, our biggest aim was to provide employment to women, make them self-reliant and give a new platform to their work. We are constantly striving to provide employment to more and more women, get them a fair price for their hard work and raise their standard of living. As an actress, I have always believed that we should use our medium to empower the next generation of women. As our initiative grows, we will try to empower more women by involving them."

Kritika's initiative presents the traditional handloom art in a modern form, and she is personally interested in every process of it. Her visit is an important step to further strengthen the connection with women artisans and honor their contribution.
