Ali Fazal and Sonali Bendre in web series based on Delhi's infamous Ranga and Billa case?

Actors Ali Fazal and Sonali Bendre have already started shooting for their new web series in Delhi. The show is directed by 'Paatal Lok' famed director Prosit Roy. The series is believed to be based on Delhi's infamous Ranga-Billa murder case, which was then, one of the most shocking and high-profile crimes in the country. The incident affected the history of Delhi and it's identity to a great extent.

1978 Chopra Case: Tragedy That Changed India’s Laws

The murder of the two innocent children back in 1978, when the two kids, (who were brother and sister) Geeta and Sanjay Chopra, were brutally abducted and murdered. They were kidnapped by Kuljeet Singh alias Ranga and Jasbir Singh alias Billa. At first, they had planned to only steal the car, but after seeing the children in the car, they changed their plan. This horrisome case shook the whole country and after the cruel happening, a wave of anger ran across the country. After this incident, the laws related to the protection of children and kidnapping were made stricter.

This series will try to show the depth of this crime, in it's true sense. Its impact and the investigation that followed will be shown elaborately. Although the makers have not yet officially confirmed the story, but according to sources, it is based on true events.

A source associated with the series said, "The team has been researching this case for the last several months. Its shooting has started in Delhi and this series will focus on what happened after the murder case. It is being shown in a very sensitive manner and its purpose is to show how much this case affected Delhi. Currently its shooting is going on in many areas of Delhi city." This is the first time the Ranga-Billa case is being shown in a scripted series, starring Ali Fazal and Sonali Bendre in the lead roles.
