The heart-touching bhajan, sung by mellifluous-voiced Meenal Nigam—a revered Yogini and spiritual healer—interweaves Lalita Goenka’s profound lyrics with Sanjeev Kohli’s stirring composition, creating a vocal tribute that deeply moved the audience as well as resonated with digital listeners. Clarified composer Sanjeev, “ Frankly I have finalized Meenal as the perfect choice because of her brilliant talent and potential. which I realized only after listening to her vocals. And not because she is Sonu Nigam’s sister,”
The launch saw an impressive galaxy of highly-appreciating film and music luminaries in attendance including Sonu Nigam, Agam Kumar Nigam, Sanjay Tandon, Padmashri Anup Jalota, Smita Thackeray, composer Shameer Tandon, Rabbani Mustafa, Sonu Shrivastava (of T-Series) and of course Nikhil Kamath..
Interestingly, Nikhil Kamath is the same composer who with his music-partner Vinay) had composed Sonu Nigam’s (year 1995) initial break-thru super-hit filmy song ‘Achha Sila Diya Tuney Mere Pyar Ka”.
Meenal's father Agam Kumar Nigam extended his heartfelt congratulations to Sanjeev Kohli, describing his composition as “immortal.” Reflecting on his sister’s spiritual journey, Sonu Nigam shared, “Meenal’s voice holds a unique healing energy. "Maate Lakshmi Maate" captures that essence beautifully, with Lalita Goenka’s heartfelt inspiring lyrics and Sanjeev Kohli’s captivating melody transforming it into a sacred offering.”
Distinguished senior film and music journalists who were also honoured on stage included Soumya Vajpayee, Chaitanya Padukone, Kumar Mohan, Debarati Sen, Chirantana Bhatt, and publicist-social-activist Dr. (Hon) Anusha Srinivasan Iyer They were also present, witnessing the bhajan track’s formal unveiling A two-minute live rendition enveloped the hall, creating an atmosphere of tranquility and devotion.
Padmashri Anup Jalota, a revered swar-samrat in devotional music, expressed, “This Maate Lakshmi song serves as a connecting bridge to the divine powers, released to coincide perfectly with Diwali Utsav. The media and attendees were then treated to an exclusive first listen of a 2-minute edit version of "Maate Lakshmi Maate," leaving everyone in awe of its melodic devotion.
The elegant Meenal Nigam expressed her sincere gratitude to all the senior music-industry dignitaries who came for her release event. Speaking to me separately, the dignified Meenal (happily married to business consultant suave Sumit Mahendru--also fluent in German language ) said that “one of her dream-wishes is to sing devotional duets with swar-samrat Anup Jalota-jee and with her own iconic-star brother Sonu Nigam.”. Like her star playback singer Sonu Nigam would Meenal also wish to give playback to a Bollywood famous heroine? “Honestly I have never manifested or dreamt about giving ‘playback’. Maybe I would love to give playback voice to evergreen screen-queen Madhuri Dixit preferably for a devotional song was an honor to lend my voice to such a beautiful composition & Lyrics praising Goddess Lakshmi. I hope this bhajan brings peace and prosperity to all who listen to it."
