Bollywood Star Preity Zinta Applauds Italy’s Law on Sexual Offenders

Bollywood’s charming star, Preity Zinta, is quite active on social media, where she often shares her candid opinions on topics related to the film industry, nature, and social issues.

This time, Preity has praised a new law introduced by the government of Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. The law mandates chemical castration (making an individual impotent using medication) as a punishment for sexual offenders and rapists. This harsh measure aims to tackle sexual abuse and assault with stricter action.

Preity's Post

Preity Zinta took to social media to praise the Italian law, writing, “What a great move! I hope the Indian government will do the same someday. What do you think? It’s time we stop tolerating such crimes at all.”

Along with her praise, Preity also called for similar legislation in India. She tagged Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Indian government in her post on X (formerly Twitter).

This post is not the first time Preity has raised significant issues. Earlier, she had shared a post that said, “Support the country you live in or live in the country you support. Today’s thought.” This post came on Tuesday, December 17, and was made in the context of Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi being spotted with a bag that had "Palestine" written on it.

Work Front

On the work front, Preity Zinta has given Bollywood several memorable films, including Dil Chahta Hai, Kal Ho Naa Ho, Veer-Zaara, Salaam Namaste, Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna, Koi Mil Gaya, Mission Kashmir, and Ishk In Paris, among others. Recently, she made a cameo in Saif Ali Khan’s film Jawani Diwani.

In the upcoming months, Preity will be seen in the film Lahore 1947, starring alongside Sunny Deol. The film is expected to release in January 2025.
