Sunny Deol Shares an Emotional Moment

Speaking about the film’s success, Sunny Deol recalled an emotional encounter. He shared that he recently met an army officer who told him that his father had watched Border, and now his young son felt deeply inspired after watching Border 2. The child came to Sunny holding the Indian tricolor. Remembering the moment, Sunny said it made him feel as if, as an artist, he was contributing to a greater service. According to him, if his films can ignite love, pride, and awareness for the nation among people, there can be no greater achievement.

When asked about the immense love he is receiving from audiences, Sunny joked, “I don’t know where all this was hidden for so many years. It’s truly beautiful. I just want to tell everyone — work hard, love your profession, don’t lose hope. You never know when time will change, but you must always be prepared.”

He further added that it is his father’s blessings and Waheguru’s grace upon him. He said the audience has always loved him, and now even the industry realizes that people across the country want to see him on screen.

Sunny Deol’s Upcoming Films

During the celebration event, Sunny spoke about his upcoming projects. He revealed that his next film, Lahore, will release in theatres on Independence Day. He also announced another upcoming film titled Gabru, which he described as a very close and special project to his heart.

Sunny also fondly remembered his late father, legendary actor Dharmendra, who passed away in November 2025. A reporter referred to Sunny as a “bankable star” and even called him “Sunny Deol 2.0” while praising his strong comeback.

“Either I Would Lose, or Win the War” — Varun Dhawan

Varun Dhawan, who portrayed Major Hoshiar Singh Dahiya in the film, described the role as a huge responsibility. He said that when he first heard the narration, everyone in the room had tears in their eyes. At that moment, he knew he had to do the film.

Varun admitted that making a multi-starrer war film is never easy, but challenges are what inspire him. He said, “Either I would fail, or I would win this war. I’m glad India won — and I won too.”
He also praised director Anurag Singh for handling difficult situations during the shoot with great strength and composure.

Varun on Trolls and Personal Struggles

Responding to questions about pre-release trolling, Varun said that trolling has become a trend today. Some people take it seriously, some don’t — and he considers himself fortunate that he handled it calmly.

He shared an emotional incident from the shoot of the Battle of Basantar schedule in Babina, when his father, filmmaker David Dhawan, suddenly fell ill and had to be admitted to the ICU. Varun rushed home and offered to pause shooting, but his father insisted he return to work and honor his commitments. Varun said that when life presents such real challenges, social media trolling feels insignificant.
He also mentioned receiving a late-night call from Salman Khan, who reassured him that good times were coming. After the film’s success, Salman called again to say he was proud of him — a moment Varun described as deeply special.

“Be Honest and Do What’s Necessary” — Ahan Shetty

Ahan Shetty shared that he received immense love from the families of armed forces personnel. He recalled getting emotional while listening to the “Maa Shakti” scene with his father. Director Anurag Singh advised him to stay honest and simply do what the character demanded — advice he followed wholeheartedly.

Pride Beyond Box Office — Bhushan Kumar

For producer Bhushan Kumar, the film represents pride and honor beyond financial success. He shared that he recently saw a video of a six-year-old enthusiastically delivering Sunny Deol’s dialogue. According to him, while films are made for business, the respect this film has received from the armed forces is truly special. He promised to continue making films that strengthen patriotism and respect.

Carrying Forward a Legacy — Nidhi Dutta

Carrying forward the legacy of her father, J. P. Dutta, Nidhi Dutta said that the original Border inspired an entire generation to join the army. She expressed hope that Border 2 would similarly inspire young people to serve the nation.

Director Anurag Singh emphasized that making a large-scale war film is extremely challenging. Beyond financial investment, such films require passion and strong producers who stand firmly behind the project during difficult times. He credited Bhushan Kumar and Nidhi Dutta for their unwavering support.

Mona Singh: A Personal Tribute

Mona Singh revealed that she received the offer for Border 2 at a dramatic moment while promoting another show. With only a week before shooting began, she read the script and immediately felt it was meant for her.

Coming from an army background, Mona shared that her father fought in the 1971 war and lost a leg after stepping on a landmine. Watching a similar scene in the film brought back emotional memories. She described the project as a tribute to her father and an emotional journey.

Anya Singh, Medha Rana, and Sonam Bajwa Speak

Anya Singh said she had always wanted to be part of a film like this and felt extremely proud to contribute. Through the project, she gained a deeper understanding of the emotional struggles faced by soldiers’ families.

Medha Rana expressed happiness about being part of the film and said she learned something valuable from every member of the team.
Sonam Bajwa described 2025 as a remarkable year for her and said being part of Border 2 felt like a dream come true.

Border 2 has performed strongly at the box office, crossing ₹460 crore worldwide within 20 days of release. The war drama, released on January 23, 2026, benefited from the extended Republic Day weekend and continued to attract audiences even during Valentine’s Week. Alongside Sunny Deol and Varun Dhawan, the film also features Diljit Dosanjh in a prominent role.
