The event began with an emotional address by actor Sunny Deol. Despite being unwell, he took to the stage and said that the love of the audience is the true strength of any artist. He appeared visibly emotional and made a heartfelt revelation. Sunny shared that his father Dharmendra’s films ignited his passion for the armed forces, which inspired him to bring the stories of army officers to the big screen.
Sunny Deol said, “The idea of Border began because I watched my father’s film Haqeeqat in my childhood, and it filled me with immense passion. I couldn’t become a soldier and became an actor instead. But once I became an actor, I knew I wanted to make an army film like my father. That’s when I met J.P. Dutta sahab, and the journey began—one that you all have witnessed.” He further added that he has met many soldiers who told him they decided to join the army after watching Border. Speaking at an Amazon Music event, Sunny said hearing such stories fills his heart with pride.
Sunny Deol Delivers a Powerful Dialogue
At the event, Sunny also recited a powerful dialogue from the film: “Tum kahin se bhi andar aane ki koshish karo—zameen se, aasmaan se, samandar se… lekin saamne sirf ek Hindustani fauj hi paoge. Jo aankhon mein aankhein daal kar, seena taan kar kahegi… himmat hai toh aa, yeh khada hai Hindustan.”
(“Try entering from anywhere—land, sky, or sea—but you will only face an Indian soldier, who will look you straight in the eye, stand tall, and say—if you have the courage, come on… this is Hindustan standing firm.”) The dialogue gave everyone goosebumps and drew thunderous applause.
