After creating curiosity in many countries with his film "The Arrival of the Train" in Paris by the Auguste and Louis Lunier brothers, India's first entry was in the Esplanade Mansion in Fort Bhagwant South Mumbai or the Watson Hotel, the first floor of the building.

The Lunier brothers were French producers. The tickets for Lunior Banduni or programs would cost Rs. 1 per person.

The Times of India referred to this event as the "miracle of the century". 

This Divasi came to watch 6 films like The Sea Bath, Arrival of a Train, A Demolition, Ladies and Soldiers on Wheels, and Leaving the Factory. It got a good response and the film was later shown in Calcutta and Chennai.

The second show was on 14 July 1896 at a new venue, the Novelty Theatre, Mumbai (later called Excelsior) and the third show was on 15 August 1896 at Rosie Jhala.
