The Cine & TV Artists Association (CINTAA) organized a press conference on December 12. The event was attended by popular actresses Poonam Dhillon and Padmini Kolhapure, along with actors Deepak Parashar, Rashid Mehta, and Sudhanshu Pandey.

During the conference, Poonam Dhillon and Padmini Kolhapure announced a special event in honor of Raj Kapoor's 100th birth anniversary. The event will feature performances of the legendary songs from RK Films by various celebrated singers, including Kavita Krishnamurthy and Sudesh Bhosle.

Additionally, the event will also see the participation of Dadasaheb Phalke Award winner, actor Mithun Chakraborty.

Poonam Dhillon on the Tribute Event

Talking about how the idea of the event came to life, Poonam Dhillon shared, "I have worked with RK Films. One day, during a conversation with Shammi Kapoor's wife, she mentioned, ‘This is the centenary year, and it’s a very special moment for us.’ Hearing this made me think that we should do something to honor Raj Kapoor. Raj Kapoor was one of our greatest actors, and since CINTAA is an artists’ association, we should pay tribute to him. I brought up this idea at our October meeting, and the team loved it."

Poonam further explained that instead of just having actors perform and dance, they decided to organize a tribute featuring the iconic songs of Raj Kapoor. She also emphasized that the event would serve as a fundraiser to support those in need.

Rashid Mehta and Deepak Parashar’s Personal Connections

Rashid Mehta, an action director and actor, shared his personal connection to Raj Kapoor, saying, "For me, this event is an emotional one. I started my career as a stuntman, and I remember watching The Great Showman on screen. I couldn't believe I was working in the same industry as him. I am eagerly looking forward to the 18th of December."

Actor Deepak Parashar also spoke fondly of Raj Kapoor, stating, "Raj Kapoor Sahab was an icon. I am immensely proud to be part of this event and CINTAA."

Poonam Dhillon Addresses Challenges Faced by CINTAA Members

In addition to sharing details about the Raj Kapoor tribute, Poonam Dhillon also spoke about the challenges faced by small-time actor members of CINTAA. She highlighted the financial struggles many face due to delayed payments, sometimes for up to 90 days. “We’ve raised this issue with the Producers' Association, and we are trying to bring it to the government’s attention. I’ve discussed this matter with the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting in Delhi. Big stars get paid on time, but smaller actors often don’t even get contracts for short-term work. The shooting hours today are 14-16 hours, and these actors don’t even have private transport. They depend on public transport, and there’s no conveyance provided for these long working hours.”

The tribute event will take place on December 18 at the Mukesh Patel Auditorium in Mumbai. This special program, organized by CINTAA in honor of Raj Kapoor, will also serve as a fundraiser. The proceeds will be used to support the association’s members in need, continuing Raj Kapoor's legacy of helping and uplifting the community.
