The dynamic daring Bhushan Kumar took control of his famous father Gulshan Kumar's music company "T-Series" (where "T" stands for Lord Shiva's weapon "Trishul") way back in 1998, along with his uncle Krishan Kumar after the shocking untimely death of his father Gulshan Kumar. It may be noted that the modest ambitious Gulshan-jee had risen from a small-time common-man businessman to one of the highest income tax-payers of India. Bhushan whose corporate philosophy is that "Gulshan-jee is always alive and inspiring " went on to become the Chairman -Managing Director of the same company.
After establishing his mega-company's presence in the film and music market, Bhushan ventured into making films. Kumar has made financially successful films such as Tum Bin, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, Patiala House, Ready and Lucky No Time For Love Kumar turned producer in 2001 for Tum Bin -a film that ran successfully and marked the debut of the lead star cast along with the film's talented director Anubhav Sinha.
In 2013, Kumar produced Nautanki Saala The same year, Bushan Kumar released a remake of Aashiqui titled Aashiqui 2 which proved to be a major turning point for Bhushan's production house as it was considered to be one of the biggest musical Super Hits of that year Kumar's subsequent projects included such films as Yaariyan, a youth-based film helmed by his actress-model-wife Divya Khosla Kumar In 2014, Kumar revived B.R. Chopra Films with Bhoothnath Returns
He then entered the genre of horror thriller with Creature 3D, starring Bipasha Basu and Imran Abbas and directed by Vikram Bhatt. In the recent past Bhushan has produced mega-hit horror-comedy Bhool Bhulaiyaa-3 ( 2024)
Besides their many more super-hit movies, commendable acclaim also goes to the foresight- vision of Bhushan Kumar and his T-Series team for their co-production blockbuster mega-hit Hindi musical action thriller movie "Animal" (2023) which merited a worldwide box office collection of over 900 Crores !
T-Series has worked with top eminent directors such as Madhur Bhandarkar, Milan Luthria, Anurag Basu, Anees Bazmi and Mohit Suri and many more.
Bhushan Kumar and his T-Series company have always been star-makers and have given big-breaks to numerous new-comers and upcoming singers, composers, models, and actors right from Sonu Nigam to Nora Fatehi. Way back in the '80s, their company marketed music-cassettes at reasonably low affordable prices to enable every 'common man' in Indian villages and towns ( besides urban cities) to purchase and enjoy melodious music, both filmy and non-filmy.!
As a senior film-journalist I have personally known Bhushan Kumar since 1998 and found him to be a modest personality with a cool, calm, confident nature! Yet a creative innovative Genius Achiever in both production and marketing. One of Bhushan's dream projects (in the pipeline since many years), is to make an inspiring informative bio-pic titled 'Mogul' on his great music-industry pioneer father--- the philanthropic, bade-dilwale, religious-minded legend Gulshan Kumar ! Who also convincingly 'acted' very often in his T-Series devotional music-videos.. As of now, the decision as to which star-actor will play Gulshan-jee's role is apparently not yet finalised.
