Heroes have always been loved in Bollywood, but the real show stealers are the anti-heroes. Those ones who are wrong, dangerous, yet extremely interesting. These roles many times are driven by passion, pain or greed for power and cross the boundaries of morality. Here's a look at few  actors who played memorable anti-heroes:

Shah Rukh Khan

Shah Rukh Khan

Before becoming 'King of Romance', Shah Rukh stunned everyone with his role of Rahul in Darr (1993) — an obsessive and scary lover whose "k-k-k-kiran" is still remembered. Later, he played a stylish and cunning criminal in Don 2 (2011), redefining the anti-hero for a new generation.

Randeep Hooda

Randeep Hooda

Randeep played a dangerous anti-hero in Jaat. His character was as scary as it was charming. Randeep played this grey character with great subtlety to bring depth and truth to his roles.

Ranbir Kapoor

Ranvijay, Ranbir's character in Animal (2023), was a violent and emotionally broken man. Caught between love and destruction, Ranbir played this character so beautifully that the audience started loving and fearing him at the same time.

Saif Ali Khan

Saif Ali Khan

In Devara Part 1, Saif Ali Khan played a mysterious and dangerous villain opposite Jr NTR. Saif has already proved that he understands grey characters very deeply with grey characters in films like Omkara and Laal Kaptaan.

Shahid Kapoor

Shahid Kapoor

In Kaminey (2009), Shahid Kapoor played the dual roles of Gaddu and Charlie - one stutters, the other lisps - both of whom live on the edge of morality while battling the system. These characters were not heroes, but definitely won the sympathy of the audience.

Vicky Kaushal

Vicky Kaushal

Raman Raghav 2.0 (2016) saw Vicky Kaushal play a corrupt, drug-taking cop. The law enforcer's own fall into darkness makes him a very interesting anti-hero.

Ranveer Singh

Ranveer Singh

Padmaavat (2018) saw Ranveer Singh portray the role of Alauddin Khilji, a maniacal, ambitious, and ruthless ruler, so convincingly that his character dominated the film. Ranveer proved that even a villain can become a hero for the audience.
